Our film man Mr. Andrew O'Leary

I first started filming in October 2003, inspired by my fathers-in-laws sixtieth birthday.

I wrote, filmed, narrated, edited and produced a video that was shown at a surprise party for him. It was a very successful production, and a very successful night. Everybody cried and laughed in the right place! This experience gave me the inspiration to start my first production company.

2016 sees the launch of my latest venture as F9 Films. The primary focus for F9 Films is focusing on SME video in Wales (small to medium sized enterprises).  Video content has become such an important part of promotion for businesses in various formats from websites, emails, promotions, exhibitions etc, it’s a difficult thing for small businesses to get right. F9 works with businesses to create the right message for what needs to be said with cost effective, professional video content.

My Background

I have had an Equity card since 1982 and have been in a number of productions from feature films, TV dramas and Commercial productions.

In 2010 I had a role as one of the Judge’s in the feature film Mr. Nice. It’s funny how things go full circle as I met Howard Marks a few years after the film was released at a business event. I was surprised that he recognised me, but he said he’s watch it several times!

In 2008 I decided to enrol onto a foundation degree in Film & Video through what was then Glamorgan University; after a successful two-year course, I was asked to stay on and teach. After another two years teaching as well as completing a teaching degree, I decided to change tack and focus solely on producing video for businesses. And so F9 FILMS was born.
